He speaks at random V

The release date for Bill (see previous post) has been pushed back to August, so I’m having to wait with bated breath a little longer for some comedy biopic Shakespearean stylings. In the meantime I am making do with Horrible Histories, a guilty pleasure. In case you haven’t encountered it, please enjoy my favourite song – the RAF pilots. What’s that, you say? It’s not Shakespeare related? OK, have the Cleopatra one instead…

There’s another film I’m getting very excited about – Macbeth with Michael Fassbender in the title role and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth. Alas it doesn’t come out until October – in the meantime, I’ll just play the trailer on loop.

The Guardian had an interesting write-up of the fighting choreography in King John here – it was just as enthralling and powerful as they make it sound. It’s on at the Globe until the 27th of June.

In other news, West End ticket prices have apparently shot up faster even than house prices. So it’s probably a good thing they don’t tend to put on much Shakespeare! I still have my fingers crossed for Hamlet…

  1. I know, very frustrating that Bill has been pushed back so far. We’re such huge fans of Matt Baynton et al in the house, the wait is unbearable 🙂
Macbeth looks amazing – proper medieval grit and dirt. Fantastic. It’ll be quite a thing to see that on the big screen – hope it gets a wide release. Lots to look forward to.
